Our Past
Driessen was founded in 1938 by Mr. G. Driessen Sr. as a small plumbing workshop in Limmen, the Netherlands. By the 1950s, the company expanded into aviation, supplying KLM and Fokker. The rise of Jumbo jets in the late 1960s led Driessen to begin producing aircraft trolleys. By the mid-1970s, the company was led by Driessen’s sons, opening a second factory in Wieringerwerf.
Driessen's Journey Begins
Driessen expanded internationally in the 1980s, opening a sales office in the Netherlands Antilles, securing a foothold in North and South America before relocating to Houston. In 1986, we established a manufacturing facility in Bangkok, followed by a cutting-edge factory in Lamphun in 1993, cementing our leadership in air catering equipment.
Global Expansion
In 2008, Driessen became part of Zodiac Aerospace, a global leader in aviation with 80 production sites and over 20,000 employees. Zodiac specialized in cabin interiors, aircraft systems, and aero safety. In 2018, Zodiac joined Safran, which now employs over 92,000 people across 276 locations in 27 countries, making it the world’s second-largest aircraft equipment manufacturer and a key player in aerospace propulsion, equipment, and interiors.
Joining Industry Giants
On June 1, 2023, Driessen Catering Equipment became an independent Dutch company under the ownership of Hivest Capital Partners, a private equity firm. With a rich history, a skilled team, and a strong passion for innovation, we are committed to catering equipment excellence across aviation, rail, care and beyond. Proud of our past, shaping the future!
